Affiliate marketing is growing more and more with the advancement of the internet. Everything is slowly moving online, and it’s not something you may want to overlook.
The general principle of affiliate marketing is simple — you promote a product, someone accesses the link, and you earn a commission based on their purchase. And yes, this sounds ideal, but what can you do if you don’t already have a very popular website with a lot of traffic to generate an income for you?
Let’s take a look at how affiliate marketing works, and how you can actually generate an income doing what you love.
How to Choose a Niche for Affiliate Marketing?
Choosing a niche is a delicate topic, and you won’t succeed if it’s not something you like. Affiliate marketing involves promoting services or products, and if you don’t have passion or knowledge for the niche, then you’re not going to get too far.
The process goes as follows:
- Make a list of the things you like. Believe it or not, this is where you start when choosing a niche. You need to have a list of at least 10 things you like.
- Divide your list in two. Obviously, not all the elements on your list will qualify for affiliate marketing, so do some research and see which niches you can get into.
- Pick a winner. By now, you have a list of about 2 to 6 niches you can get into. What you need to do is think about what’s the one you’d want to be stuck with, and just do it!
How to Promote Affiliate Products and Services
You have a niche, you know what affiliate marketing is; now let’s see how to promote it! Don’t worry if you don’t have a blog or popular website — affiliate marketing works with social media just as well. It’s just as easy to start an online store with no money — everything is possible!
Write a Blog
Blogging is the #1 method of generating an income with affiliate marketing. From small blogs capable of generating a decent monthly income, to huge websites bringing millions every year. The rationale is straightforward — you write a blog, use all the SEO techniques you can think of, get organic traffic, and have people click on your affiliate links. When they make a purchase, you earn some money.
Depending on the affiliate program, it can be a one-time payment or a monthly payment for a period of time.
Social Media
Social media is a great environment for affiliate marketing. You can tell a story, promote a product, and reach a lot more people. However, it’s a little harder to convert your prospects. When they want information, they’ll go looking for a blog to answer the question and give a solution. In social media, though, all the information is there — if they like it, they’ll check it out. And if you manage to promote a nice image, maybe they’ll even buy.
What Is a Good Affiliate Marketing Program for Artists?
My personal favorite is the Bounce Color affiliate program. It has a huge commission of 30% and you get to promote the coolest sound and video effects for creators. If you’re a social media addict, you can actually generate an income while creating awesome videos with elements from Bounce Color’s library!
