Minecraft horses are amazing. They make travelling and exploring the overworld so much easier and quicker. In this guide today, we’ll show you how to tame a horse in Minecraft in the most effective way.
The quickest and most effective way to tame a horse in Minecraft is to right-click on the horse the same way you would use an item. This horse will almost certainly buck you off the first couple of tries, but if you keep at it, hearts will eventually appear above the horse.
This means you have successfully tamed yourself a horse in Minecraft.
Note: You can also use items to help you tame a horse quicker. Said items are apples, golden apples, carrots, golden carrots, wheat & hay bales.
Where to Find a Horse in Minecraft
The most common places to find a horse in Minecraft are grass plains. They typically gather in groups of 2-6. You can also find them in other biomes, such as Savannahs.

Step 1 – Preparation
You can prepare anything from apples to carrots and wheat to help tame a horse in Minecraft. You can also use bales and the golden variants of apples and carrots to help tame the horse more effectively.
Although none of this is required to tame a horse, it just helps tame it more effectively.
Step 2 – Taming the Horse
Make sure you have nothing in your hands before taming the horse. Then when going to tame the horse, all you need to do is right-click on it in the same way you would use an item.
The horse will buck you off the first couple of times, but all you need to do is keep trying. Once hearts appear above the horse’s head briefly, you’ll know you’ve tamed the horse.
